me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

That Tuesday gig

It was way cool, the reading at the Flying Saucer. Any of you who live or work around there, you might want to check the joint out. Good coffee and exceptional sandwiches! The event was part of the Other Means reading series, which has an interesting mission: "to initiate and encourage meaningful and mutually beneficial relationships among New York City writers, lit fans, and community organizations." The writers at each reading pick an organization to support and the $5 admission fee goes to them. We -- Kim Sykes, Tim McLoughlin, Liz Martinez, and I -- chose the American Indian Community House. This is a terrific idea, to introduce audiences to writers they may not know, and also to ways to get involved in community organizations. A fine evening all around.
