me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Hey, even the Pentagon's not perfect

Apparently the guys who're so successfully running the war in Iraq have made a mistake. Which they only discovered a year and a half later, after the Taiwanese 'fessed up. EXCUSE ME? Any of you guys ever return the wrong book to the library? How long did it take you to catch on? Or ever order a blue shirt from Macy's and get a red one? Take you eighteen months to call and complain? Taiwan asks for helicopter batteries, gets nuke fuses, doesn't mention it (what's making their copters fly in the meantime?) and suddenly it comes to light now? If they really think we're going to believe this, they must think we're as dumb as they're trying to persuade us THEY are. Which itself is pretty stupid, so maybe they are that dumb. Wonder what really happened?
