me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Writing workshop again

Okay, you guys who're thinking about signing up for my writing workshop in Assisi in August: stop thinking and sign up already! I put some new photos up to entice you. The cold truth is, right now there aren't enough students signed up for the workshop to go ahead, and I'd hate for you to be thinking too long and then try to sign up for a workshop that's been cancelled! If you're thinking you're not "advanced" enough as a writer, I guarantee that first, you're better than you think (yes you are so) and that second, you'll take some great steps forward in those two weeks. If you're thinking, Yes, but I don't write crime, that's okay: good writing is good writing, the elements are the same, and I'm flexible. Plus, you need to come to eat great food, spend time in a breathtaking town, and -- this is important, pay attention -- hang around with other writers and artists and find without noticing it that by the end you've come to take yourself seriously as a writer. So do it!

And if you know anyone who doesn't read this blog but is thinking about coming, tell them to do it too.
