me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Three of a kind

Sitting down by the river early this morning, drinking tea, admiring the perfect day. Clear sun, waves on the water, gulls soaring. In the distance to the south, the Met Life blimp. I love blimps, the way they seem to move in slow motion. I keep my eye on this one and as it clears the trees I see it's not alone. There are two more, a little smaller, painted a little differently, following it around. The big one leads the little ones through three wide circles. Then they all head north. They drift right over me in a line. A three-blimp formation! I have no idea what was going on, but I'm sure glad I was there to see it.
