me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

There's no business like snow business

Went out early this morning to see the results of the storm. I was expecting silence and knee-deep snow, but no. Industrious neighborhood I live in: all the supers had been out early, and the sidewalks were either shoveled, in the process of being shoveled, or in the process of being snow-blown. The walkway down by the river had even been cleared, a little. I got my knee-deep snow there, though, and got a good workout crunching through it. The dogs in the dogpark were in doggie heaven bounding up the snowbanks and plowing through the drifts. Around the corner from me, two Latino busboys from the restaurant took a break from shoveling the sidewalk to photograph each other beside cars piled with fresh snow taller than they were.
