me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Last morning in Assisi

I really feel like I just got here. Just opened the windows, unpacked, strolled -- okay, climbed -- up the hill for my first slice of St. Francis Bread. Seven a.m., church bells going off. About to head down to breakfast on the terrace one last time, to watch the shadow of the mountain (and the town) move off the valley. Looking out my window at all the walks (and photos) I didn't take, all the cafes I didn't sit in, all the churches I didn't check out.

Reminding myself it's always like this. If there's nothing left you didn't do, you stayed too long.

Will blog at youse from Rome if I can, otherwise, home Friday. Ciao!
