me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Get your writing on

My last couple of blog posts have been about my complicated life. This one is intended to complicate yours. If youse have ever wanted to take a writing workshop with me, now's the time. This info will be going out in my newsletter, but some of youse don't get my newsletter. Why is that? Because youse haven't put yourselves -- youseselves? -- on my mailing list. To do that, go here. Meanwhile, here are two upcoming workshops, one short and one long.

First, for folks in the Miami area -- or folks who'd like to be -- I'll be at the Writers Institute at Miami Dade College. It's May 2-4. The short workshop, see? Write in the mornings and workshop in the afternoons. Registration is incredibly cheap: $250. So you can afford that hotel room in which you're going to lock yourself to do the write-in-the-mornings part. In the evenings, of course, we're going to eat great Cuban food, or fresh fish, and hang out at the beach. So register now!

And while you're registering, the long workshop is my regular summer gig in Assisi, Italy. Same format -- write in the mornings, workshop in the afternoons -- only this time it's two weeks. In Italy. July 18-31. Not, um, quite as cheap -- $4,560 until April 18, $4,785 after that -- but the price includes the workshop, your hotel room (with views over the Umbrian plain, to gaze at when you lock yourself, etc.) and breakfast and dinner. A splendid place, and everyone gets a lot of work done and leaves galvanized and rarin' to go on. So register there, too!
