me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

I love New York

Standing behind two young women on a Juilliard School cafeteria line.

YW #1: My aunt's coming for the performance next weekend.

YW #2 (after odd silence): Which aunt?

YW #1: My mom's sister, you met her!

YW #2: The one my dad used to date?

YW #1: Yes, that's her.

YW #2 (after another odd silence): My dad's coming, too.

Odd silence from both of them.

Then they crack up.

I crack up, too.

So does the guy behind me.

I love New York.
