me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Frankenstorm, longer report

Lotsa water. Not as much rain as expected, and though the gusting winds are powerful when they come, they do stop. The city, Con Ed, and even -- gasp -- the MTA are doing great, I have to say. The MTA system's shut down; the subway cars and buses have been moved to high ground so if the tunnels and streets flood they won't be damaged. I got a robocall from Con Ed saying it might be necessary to shut the power off. There are FDNY and Dept. of Buildings engineers scaling a 90-story building to see if they can secure a teetering (but not fallen) crane. The shelters are up and running. So far, good job, New York.
