me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

New cat news

I'm not one to post about my cat much, for fear of becoming -- or being revealed to myself as -- a crazy cat lady. But yesterday on Facebook I posted this, and I realized I hadn't put it here for youse guys: yesterday at 3:00 I brought home a new cat. Bella, named for Bella Abzug by her most recent people. Not an orphan of the storm, but an orphan nonetheless. This is at least her third home, and that's if you don't count the ASPCA. Took her ten minutes to crawl out of her carrier, and then she made a mad dash for under the bed. I never saw her after that. Went out at 5:00, figured she could use the time alone to explore, find the litter box, the food and water. Came back at 8:00. Litter box untouched, food and water levels unchanged. There might not be a cat here at all. Except there was a fat dead mouse on the livingroom floor. Go Bella!
