After lunch we traveled to another market I think called Xiang Yang Lu Clothes Market. There were multiple buildings filled with stories of small shops. These shops had all types of clothing, pretty much anything you wanted to buy you could find. After a bit of walking I found a small stall with soccer jerseys. I was immediately was drawn to it and bought 2 jerseys. Although the market had lots of good things to buy, we were constantly being pestered by people saying to follow them for clothes and good deals. They followed us everywhere. If I went into a store, they would wait outside until we left the store and continue to pester us. We stopped at a KFC to use the restroom and I'm pretty sure the lady followed my tutor into the bathroom. I bought a polo shirt and some shoes, both great deals. Going shopping always wears me out, I was resilient for most of the day, but constant bargaining and always getting hassled was taking its toll and I decided it was time to go home.

After a rest and a shower, my tutor and I had a late dinner. I saw a Thai restaurant close by and decided to go there. Little did I know that it was a romantic setting, which made dinner kind of awkward because there were couples all around us and I just came for some Thai food. The food was delicious, I got my usual Panang Curry with beef. After dinner we headed back to the company dorms. My tutor was going to bed and I told her I was going to go out and check out the area, maybe look for a bar. She was hesitant because my uncle told her not to leave me alone but I convinced her I would be fine. Where we were staying is the location of many countries consulates. We were directly across the German consulate and the American and Iranian consulate were near as well. I asked the guards if I could take a picture of the Iranian consulate and they refused. After walking around for a while I went into the only bar I could find. I think it was called JZ Bar and that night had live music that was latin themed. This bar seemed a bit fancy and my suspicion was confirmed when I saw the prices of the drinks. I got a beer and looked around and found a young looking guy sitting alone so I struck up conversation with him. He was waiting for some friends and invited me to tag along with them. I generously accepted the invitation and hung out at the bar for a while. The first person I met was named Peter and was from Poland. The others were from America, Peru, France, and Beijing. They had all been living in Shanghai for a while and all worked there. It was a breath of fresh air to be able to easily communicate with good English speakers. People that could have good conversations with and who I could joke around with. Around midnight we all went to a nightclub called Muse which was closer to downtown Shanghai. The nightclub was packed with people dancing everywhere. There were bright lights flashing constantly and the music was so loud you couldn't hear people talk to you. We went to the second floor of the nightclub which was still crazy but with less seizure-inducing lights. The club was a good mix of foreigners and locals. I noticed most of the Chinese girls would only hang out with foreigners who would spend lots of money. I was not one of these foreigners. After many drinks and a bit of dancing I made my way home by taxi around 3:30AM. The people I met that night invited me to dinner and to go out again the next night. I don't think the lady that ran the dorms was happy that I got back so late, but I had a good time nonetheless.
