This blog is going dark! For about a week. Early tomorrow (though honestly not that much earlier than River usually wakes us anyway, alas), we head for the airport and then for Hawai'i, leaving our sad cats and thirsty plants in the hands of capable cat-and-plant-sitters. I won't be looking at e-mail or anything else online (and, oh, how I relish the prospect of returning home to 4,000 pieces of spam, sigh) until the following Friday. I will be unreachable! (Well, for those who might need to reach us for crazy emergencies, you have a cell number or can reach someone who does. But basically unreachable.) Instead of working, writing, and doing the other usual things, I will be snorkeling, playing in the toddler pool with my baby, sitting in tide pools, eating raw fish, drinking drinks where the fruits just barely outnumber the boozes, and reading a ton. (I'm taking Daryl Gregory's Pandemonium and Elizabeth Bear's Ink and Steel and Hell and Earth and the latest Fables trade and a Kim Newman collection and when those are done I will buy more on the island!)
