2006-04-02 7:40 PM National Poetry Month!
~ from Jill
April is National Poetry Month, and what better way to start celebrating than to chalk a poem on your driveway and sidewalk!
I found it was a great way to: express creativity practice penmanship involve little ones . .(they came running, “Can I help?!”) put color in your day get some exercise enjoy the sunshine (at least here in Florida) make the Pizza Delivery-man smile (now youknow what we had for dinner) share a poem with the world ( or at least your neighbor’s children .. )
Poems used: “If I had a Brontosaurus,” & “Ridiculous Rose,” by Sheldon Silverstein, (ironically, from “Where the Sidewalk Ends.”) For a list of 29 more great ideas of ways to celebrate poetry each day of the month, go to Poets.org, from the Academy of American Poets.
