The event was held on Friday and involved a gruelling schedule of interviews, presentations and tours. The outcome wasn't positive, but the letter of intent did say I would be considered for other positions. It's a pity there aren't any other openings at that company. Oh well. I was well looked-after during the trip, so I can't complain about that. Back to the job hunt... Today I finished reading the July issue of F&SF. This issue had stacks of good stuff, including an epic novella by Adam-Troy Castro, entitled The Tangled Strings of the Marionettes. This story had me gripped throughout and had plenty of twists and turns to keep things interesting. I also really enjoyed Clem Crowder's Catch by Al Michaud. New writer Eyal Teler, a regular on the Asimov's forum, had an intriguing story in this issue, entitled Possibilities. Apparently this was a response to an earlier story by Ray Bradbury in the Oct/Nov 2000 issue, which I want to try and track down. This evening we're off to that French/Italian restaurant we missed last weekend, followed by a visit to a 'haunted trail' in Freeport and a horror movie when we get back. Apparently that restaurant has a jazz band playing, so it should be an entertaining evening! Carrie rented some DVDs yesterday for our Halloween movie binge this week, including 28 Days Later, Evil Dead, House of 1000 Corpses, and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. Absolutely delightful, I'm sure! I should point out that I was responsible for selecting three of those :P More thoughts as we watch them...
