It wasn't anywhere near as much as what is getting dumped on the east coast, but it's our first real snow nevertheless. It was fun until I had to scrape ice from the car and struggled to open the driver's side door this morning. It wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't so fricking cold outside (16F). Today I've been running around like a chicken with it's head cut off, taking care of various errands, doing stuff around the apartment, and making dinner (which is still in the oven as I write). Our stomachs are both growling, so it'll be nice to get stuck into it shortly :) On the menu this evening is breaded cod with roast potatoes and steamed broccoli. Mmmmmm. About the only time I sat down was when I read Stephen Baxter's story in the August issue of Asimov's while waiting for the car to be serviced. The story, entitled Touching Centauri, was a good dose of Hard-SF, more like what I'm used to reading in Analog. Would you believe I'm still reading Wolves of the Calla? I'm on the home stretch now (about 250 pages left), and things are gradually working toward the climactic battle. The problem is there's so much backstory, it's sometimes a bit hard to digest. I'll post more thoughts on the novel once I'm done. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
