Woohoo! This weekend we're going to check out Return of the King! I can't wait :) We've also rented several movies: Gods and Generals, The Magnificent Seven, The Birds, and Clerks. I'll post some comments as we watch them. Can you tell it's winter in Illinois?

Yesterday I read the latest issue (#5) of Electric Velocipede. I wasn't sure what to expect. Based on the title, I thought maybe there'd be some strange stories? After reading it, I reckon that's a fair assessment :)

While not quite up to the standard of some of the other chapbooks and mags I've read lately, there's still some good stuff in here. My favourite stories were the following: Waiting for an Angel by Mike Lewis, The Chicken by J.R Cain, The Curious Inventions of Mr. H by Paul Di Filippo (this is some seriously bizarre stuff!), and The God Behind the Glass by Richard Larson.

A couple of the stories mystified me, so I can only assume I missed their deeper meaning. Most of the stories lean heavily toward magical realism or surrealism, so if that's not your cup of tea you'd probably do better elsewhere.

In case you've missed it, there are some spooky goings-on at Hampton Court Palace (Henry VIII's place). Apparently their security cameras captured something mysterious on tape. Genuine spirit or nothing but a hoax? From the photo I reckon it looks like some bloke decked-out in Halloween costume, but the people at Hampton Court aren't so sure. Creepy...

What I'm Reading:
Toast by Charles Stross
Say... aren't you dead? (Say... Issue#3)
Lady Churchill's Rosebud Wristlet, no. 13
