Job frenzy and Finding Nemo

I've been very busy over the past couple of days with job hunting stuff and there's no sign that it'll diminish anytime soon. Nevertheless, I must plough on and hope I can score an interview (and a job!) soon. On the plus side, I did get a few more applications sent out today :)

It was a bit of a lazy weekend overall, but we did manage to put away the Christmas decorations and tidy up a few things. The tree still stands though, so we'll probably take care of that next weekend.

We also watched Finding Nemo on DVD and were thoroughly impressed. The animation was even more stunning than in Toy Story 2, and the story, jokes, characters and pacing were all well done. It's got something there for kids and adults alike, although many of the extras were aimed solely at kids (which didn't stop us!).

The making-of documentary illustrated how gruelling the whole process was and showed what an army of talented people can accomplish if given time and a pleasant work environment (or was that all just a facade?). The sneak-peek of Pixar's next movie, The Invincibles, held promise, but was more of a teaser than anything else.

Also included on the 2nd DVD is an old (for computer graphics, that is) Pixar short, entitled Knick Knack. This would've been pretty impressive for its day, and just goes to show how far they've progressed in a little over a decade.

In other news, my Moleskine notebook arrived on Saturday and since then I've been busy writing notes for my next story. Just in time too, because I've been cursing the computers more than usual lately :P
