After fretting about writing a new story for the crit group in my last entry, I decided to come up with a compromise!

I've had a story sitting on the harddrive since last year and it has never been sent out. It needed further editing to fix up the painfully slow opening section, but I never got around to doing it.

Solution? I read through it, thought it was basically okay, and decided to polish it up and send it to the crit group! I'm hoping that with their help, I can turn it from an okay story into a good (or very good) one :)

Today, between errands, I completely rewrote the beginning, removed about 2,000 words from it, and gave the whole thing some polishing. Now it's just about ready to send off. It'll be interesting to see what the group thinks of it...

Today we rented a couple of DVDs to watch over weekend - The City of Lost Children (I've been meaning to watch this one for years), and A Mighty Wind. The latter will be interesting to compare with This is Spinal Tap and Best in Show (which we watched this past week).

We're also going to see the new movie starring Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I've heard lots of good things about this movie, and it sounds like the premise is similar to Memento and the work of Philip K. Dick. The same writer behind this (Charlie Kaufman) also wrote Being John Malcovich, which I loved. I've got high hopes for his latest effort :)
