2004-06-14 8:57 PM Interview, scribbling, and movies Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Happy Read/Post Comments (2) I got back from the job interview a couple of hours ago, and I was fairly pleased with how it went. It's a contract position, but it sounds like there's a fair bit of work, so the project could last a few years. They reckon they'll get back to me in a couple of days with their decision. I hope I can get responses back from both companies this week, so that: (a) I can stop worrying about it, and (b) I can pick and choose if it so happens that both of them want to offer me a job :) This weekend we went out for a dinner and movie date on Saturday, and stayed indoors the rest of the weekend, trying to keep cool. We saw Shrek 2 (which was much funnier than I thought it'd be) and had dinner at a new Mexican place (which was okay, but I still prefer El Roboso!). We also watched a couple of other movies, including Monster and Paycheck. Monster was quite a depressing and disturbing story, but Charlize Theron did a brilliant job and her Best Actress Oscar was well earned, in my opinion. Paycheck wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be--I actually quite liked it. I have no idea how well it compares with the original Philip K Dick story, though. As for my writing, I transcribed the new story fragment from my notebook onto the laptop. That came to about 800 words, and there's probably about twice that to go. This one's a bit of a strange story, in that it has an unusual protagonist and the plot revolves almost entirely around his psychosis. The rest is going to be tricky to write, so it might take more time than usual to get this one done. I may even complete another story in the time it'll take to figure this one out. I also spent some time editing another story, and that one is currently out for another critique. It still needs a bit more polish before it's ready to send out. This morning I received a nice package from Amazon, including the latest Stephen King Dark Tower book (DT6: Song of Susannah) and Charles Stross's latest, The Atrocity Archives. I'll be getting stuck into these just as soon as I've finished reading Little Gods... Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
