We did some shopping and I started reading the new Stephen King Dark Tower book, Song of Susannah. I have a feeling I'll get through this one pretty quick, since it's about half the length of the previous volume and a fast read so far. We didn't go to any fireworks, but I was wishing we did when they started up later on. We did see parts of two shows from our apartment windows, though. Unfortunately there are some high trees a quarter mile from the apartment, so they tended to obscure the lower altitude fireworks. Long after the official shows ended, loud explosions and pops echoed throughout the neighbourhood, and I wondered how long it would be before an ambulance or three went screaming past... Today I'm just planning on taking it easy, enjoying the day off. I think I'll do some reading, and if I'm so inclined I may do some editing on an old story. I'm stalled on the story I worked on last weekend, stuck in the tricky middle section, and I realized that perhaps it doesn't have as much conflict as I thought it would. I'll work through it eventually, but meanwhile it'd be nice if I could muster enough motivation to work on some quick flash fiction...
