This weekend was fairly uneventful, but we were glad to have a few days around the house after the holiday, nevertheless. Going straight back to work would not have been pleasant.

We spent Friday afternoon running errands, going through piles of mail (paper and electronic), and picking the kitten up from his lavish accomodations. We would've left him home with the other cat, but the place would've been totally destroyed in our absence! Our only concern was he'd become rather well-adjusted to his kitten paradise when we went to pick him up, and he didn't seem to recognize us until we got him home. He seems to have become more of a cuddler for some reason--maybe it's just because he's getting older?

Saturday we went to see The Incredibles, which was brilliant. There were tonnes of laughs and I even had a laughing fit when they came up with a novel method for propulsion across the ocean (don't ask me why--maybe the absurdity of it struck a chord?). It wasn't all played for laughs, though, and the serious tone and everyday drama in parts balanced things out. I'll be very surprised if Pixar's next movie (Cars) tops this one. Oh, and the short before the movie proper, entitled Boundin', was rather amusing, too.

Sunday we got a lot done around the house, and did some yard work, raking up the remaining leaves, mowing, cleaning gutters and so forth. I spent far too much time online reading about ghosts and freaking out over that photo we took. I also decided to have a gander on ebay to fill some holes in the mag collection, with some success.

Nothing new on the writing front, aside from an emailed rejection (that came while we were away) for a story I had high hopes for. Drat! This is the first time in ages I haven't had any stories doing the rounds, and it's all rather depressing. Before I think about polishing this piece and others yet again, I need to write some new stuff. It's starting to irritate me that I haven't written anything in so long!
