I finished reading Kate Wilhelm's Storyteller the other day, and I'm VERY impressed. The author has somehow managed to convey the essence of 27 years worth of the Clarion Writer's Workshop into a mere book, and you owe it to yourself to have a read!

The information density is far greater than your typical writing book, most of which are filled with more fluff than gems. With this one, I constantly found myself having "Aha!" moments when I realized what I've been doing wrong all this time.

I have no idea if this book will have an immediate effect on my writing, but I do know that my perspective has changed quite a bit since reading it. Before, there were a lot of things I either vaguely understood or had heard from other people, but the book solidified a few of those concepts and explained why some things do or don't work.

Whether you're a beginning writer, or you've been at it for a good many years, I'm sure you'll find Storyteller well worth a look.

Oh, and the nice people at Small Beer Press have put up a sample chapter here. Check it out, and see what you think :)
