For the last few months I've had some exciting and terrifying news up my sleeve. Until now it has only been known by close family and friends. I figure now's as good a time as any to spill the beans. And besides, I thought a few people might notice at Wiscon next month....

In October we'll be welcoming our first baby into the family! We've been planning on having kids for the last few years, but it's only been fairly recently that we managed to convince ourselves we were ready. We wanted to wait until I'd been working for awhile and we'd settled into our house, among other things.

Carrie seems to be getting on fairly well so far. She's mainly felt more tired than usual and a bit queasy at times, but nothing too serious. That's my impression, anyway ;)

The little one is currently at the 13 week mark, which leaves a mere 27 weeks to go. It's scary how fast time is flying! The due date is very close to my birthday, so it'll be interesting to see how that works out.

Tonight we got back from visiting Carrie's family in Michigan for Easter, and we had fun doing the baby registry thing while we were there. It was a bit overwhelming at times, but I'm sure we'll figure it all out :)
