Painting the boy's room

June was another busy month, apparently ;) Since I've got today and tomorrow off, it's as good a time as any for another journal entry or two. I'll probably outline my garden antics in a separate entry (that'll have photos).

Carrie had another ultrasound a few weeks back, and it looks like we've got a little boy on the way! He seems to be a lively fellow judging by the amount of kicking he's been doing over the past few weeks. Now that we know, Carrie and her mum have been picking out his wardrobe, which until now has consisted mainly of greens and yellows. It certainly looks like he'll be a well-dressed chap.

The weekend before last Carrie's parents were over and we had a barbeque and painted the baby's room, among other things. We decided on the 'Newborn' yellow with eggshell finish, which looks quite nice. The next steps will be to get a crib and other furniture and to organize the baby shower. We're supposed to find out about some classes next week, so it looks like another busy few months ahead!

On the writing front, things have been slow. I started a new story a few weeks ago, with the working title, Invasion of the Potato Men. It's not nearly as pulpy as the title suggests, though. I've got a basic idea in mind, but I still need to work a few things out before I can write the rest. Meanwhile I've been keeping on top of submissions, tidying up a few older pieces and keeping others in circulation. The trick, as always, is to stay motivated and keep working on new stuff. Easier said than done!
