Blizzard!

After peeking out the window this morning and dusting snow off the bird-feeders (they're going crazy out there), I checked the weather online to see when it's expected to stop. They're calling it a blizzard. Nice!

Luckily I have today off! With Carrie's parents in town and the ominous weather forecasts yesterday, I decided it would be prudent to take a PTO day and just stay home ;)

According to the snow gauge I put outside last night, we've had nearly a foot of snow already and it's not supposed to stop until about 4pm. The last time I remember the weather being this bad was when I was due to fly out of O'Hare back to Australia in mid-December 2000. They closed work down that day, it was so bad. The plows simply couldn't keep up.

On the writing front, I wrote a new story a few weeks back. That was supposed to be the Halloween tale, but it evolved into more of a schlocky EC Comics-style horror tale. I'm thinking this weekend is as good a time as any to give it a little polish and send it out.

Tomorrow while Carrie's parents watch the little bloke, we're planning on seeing the new Bond movie. From what I've read it's taken the franchise in a new direction, away from the campy, gadget-laden flicks, and toward a more serious, LeCarre type spy story tone. I hope they stick with it, if that's the case. The last decent Bond movie was Goldeneye, I reckon.

What I'm Reading:
Lord of Light, Roger Zelazny
Wonder's Child: My Life in Science Fiction, Jack Williamson
Welcome to the Monkey House, Kurt Vonnegut (audiobook)
