Usually I take Allex in the stroller, but he fusses quite a bit. So, I tried carrying him in a Baby Bjorn (a pack strapped to you with a pouch in the front for the baby.) He didn't fuss, but my back was killing me after 3 miles. Esther carried him the last leg of our walk because I was so exhausted. So, then I tried a Back Pack made for carrying babies. Wow! That was the answer! He didn't fuss at all and I didn't get too tired. In fact, when I first put him in, he grinned happily and giggled. He loves it! He is held close to me, but he is high up and gets a great view of everything. I've taken him in it a few times now and we both love it. It is a good work out for me. He weighs 15 pounds now. Carrying him plus the pack is about 20 pounds. My shoulders are going to be buff! And I can take him off road on to the dirt trails, giving us more variety and shade. When he gets too big for the Back Pack, I'll put him in the stroller. He should be big enough by then to see better and be content riding in it.
