Say it with love

I very rarely get sentimental. I am past the age of romance, and P. and I were never really into that stuff much anyway. We are bread-and-butter folk and don't go in for fluff. But we had our 25th wedding anniversary recently, and I received a card from Paul, and I wanted to share - the message part of it - with you. It's just about the loveliest card I think I've ever gotten from anyone. It goes like this:

FOR MY WONDERFUL WIFE

I just can't imagine my life
if I had never met you,
fallen in love,
and been smart enough
to know you were the one...

I could never do without
the big and little things
you do daily
to delight me, surprise me,
and make me happy.

Give me forever,
and I still couldn't find the words
to tell you all the ways
you make my life complete...

But there's one thing I can do
and do very well...
and that's love you with all my heart.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

Of course he signed it at the end with some plain mushy stuff. He's the bee's knees. He's the creme de la creme, he's the top o' the mornin'. Getting a card like that after 25 long years of married life makes you stop and think. All the hard times were worth it. All the little sacrifices, all the hurt feelings soothed over. I can't end without thanking the writers at Hallmark Cards, as well. AND... the card was made with recycled paper!

Tell those you love that you love them every day.

Cheers,

Bex
