Nursing an ailing machine...etc.

Oops, another lapse in writing again. Sorry. I only have my laptop now as my big computer is in "the shop" having all kinds of pokes and prods by the computer doctor. Something happened to it a week or so ago and I lost internet access. Turned out something was wrecking havoc with my whole computer so it needed a huge overhaul. It's taken my repairman the whole week to do stuff to it (he works fulltime days so can only work on it at night) and he informs me this morning that he is making good progress. We were afraid it might not be saved at one point but he has persevered.

Typing on the L-top is much harder for me. The keyboard is so different (flat) than I am used to. I have a mouse plugged in because I just can't get used to the little pad instead of the mouse. But I sure am glad I got this when I did just for this type of circumstance. There are evil people out there sending nasty viruses all the time and I guess one came my way one day recently. Sometimes you don't even know you've got one, too. They are creepy and surreptitious (?).

I've learned a technique of getting out of this big chair with as little pain/problems as possible. The dispute that I filed with my credit card company is now all over since I've got the chair, and we're back to normal. They were very good about it all, too. Not many people can say they like their credit card company but at this point, I like this one. They were very helpful and even called me several times and sent letters, etc.

That's about all the news here. P. went out lobstering yesterday and he's left to go today too. It's been about a week since he could get out. Wintertime is tough on fishermen, but we really can't complain about THIS year, we've hardly had any snow to speak of. Unlike Europe and the UK who are in a turmoil right now with everything freezing and snow etc. I saw an article in an online newspaper from England showing Trafalgar Square with the big fountain there completely frozen over. Incredible weather.

I am going now to try a new recipe for a carrot cake. That's P's favourite dessert and I haven't made him one in years. I have all the ingredients so will let you know how it comes out.

Cheers,

Bex

I think I could turn and live awhile with the animals...
They are so placid and self-contained,
I stand and look at them sometimes half the day long.

They do not sweat and whine about their condition,
They do not lie awake in the dark and weep for their sins,
They do not make me sick discussing their duty to God,
Not one is dissatisfied... not one is demented with the mania of owning things,
Not one kneels to another nor to his kind that lived thousands of years ago,
Not one is respectable or industrious over the whole earth.
