Sing a new song, Chiquitita

It's been a long time since I had a song affect me like this one has.

I was never an ABBA fan, but the other night, whilst listening to an "oldies" radio station, in the wee small hours, this song came on. I was blown away by it. I had no idea who was singing. I had no idea what the words were - I was half-asleep. It almost sounded all Spanish to me, but I finally got up and wrote down "New song Chiqua Vita" as a possible name for it. I turned on my computer and began my search.

I tried going to the radio station's web site but I had a lot of trouble navigating that web page. After about 25 minutes of no luck, I clicked on a link there and up popped their play-list for the night... and half-way down it was "Chiquitita" and I knew it MUST BE IT.

Then I googled "Chiquitita" and found it was sung by ABBA.

I had never heard this song before. I had heard lots of other ABBA songs but I was more a folk-song follower and not pop music at all. When I played it for Paul, he said he'd heard it before. But not I!

I am still, now two weeks into this love affair, totally enraptured of this song as sung by ABBA.

Of course, I went right to amazon and ordered the CD. Not a night goes by that I don't listen to it before going to sleep. Oh my. I hope the little video below works. I've just now found it online and wanted to share.

It sounds a lot better on my Bose than on my laptop,(however, if I plug my headphones into my laptop, it increases the quality by 1000%) but still, I think this is one of the most inspirational and uplifting songs I've ever heard.

"Try once more, like you did before,
Sing a new song, Chiquitita!"

Cheers,

Bex
