Bex's Mackerel-Parmesan Dog Biscuits, or My First Ever Dog Biscuit Recipe

So now, rather than just "following" somebody else's directions on making great homemade dog biscuits, I have transmorphed over into the world of actual inventor of dog biscuit recipes. Well, singular - recipe. Because I have only invented this one. So far.

And because you are such faithful and good friends, and you always seem to want more and more recipes, even if they are for dogs, here goes:

Bex's Own Mackerel-Parmesan Dog Biscuits

Ingredients:

1 cup All Purpose Flour
1 cup Whole Wheat Flour
1 TBSP Baking Soda
2 TBSP Molasses
1/2 cup Cottage Cheese
1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese
1/4 cup Corn Meal
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 can (about 4" x 2") mackerel

Put all ingredients into a mixer bowl and mix together on medium speed for about 5 minutes. The dough will look very much like cracker crumb mixture, but have faith.

Preheat oven to 350 F.

Line cookie sheets with SilPat, wax or parchment paper.

Using a small sized scoop, or about a large tablespoon, scoop out each cookie and quickly squeeze it between your two hands til it resembles dough. Then roll it into a ball like a meatball. Place on cookie sheets. They don't really spread much.

With a fork, press each rounded cookie into a flatter cookie to about 1/4 to 1/2 inch high.

Bake at 350 F for 20 minutes. Turn oven off and leave biscuits in oven for a while until they cool off a bit. Place biscuits on wire racks to completely cool and harden.

[Note: I score down the center of the biscuit so I can break them in half when I give them out to the puppers. A half of these cookies is enough for one serving.]

It should be noted that when these cookies are just about done, your house will smell gorgeous! Your dogs will be wanting supper and your husband (or wife as the case may be) will be asking "What's for supper, hon, it smells so good in here!"

Because now the whole house smells like these cookies and it is definitely a good thing.

My first dog biscuit recipe.

Cheers,

Bex, lover of dogs
