2012-04-21 1:53 PM Come Along for a Drive Thru the Yorkshire Dales, and More! Wow. I've just found something on YouTube that I must share. If you've no desire to take a little trip through the Yorkshire Dales, then just skip this entry. But if you do, then here we go.
These are Part I and Part II of a drive through the Yorkshire Dales in Northern Engalnd. The videos are made by "DalesDriver". Once you have finished these drives, you can find many more by this same person (I think he has made 15 of them). Paul and I watched one the other night and oh, my, it felt just like we were there again. Pure heaven for us! If you click on the center of the photo area, it will play the video right here on my blog page. But if you want to enlarge it to full screen, click on the title text at the top of the photos and it will take you to the YouTube page where you can go full-screen, which I highly recommend. Part I: Part II: This is what we would do when we would visit Yorkshire. We'd get in the car, map in lap, and just drive. Anywhere we wanted. I like the music playing along, but in most of them I think it is silent, however, you can choose which you like. It's nice classical music anyway. A small video of our favourite town in the world, Whitby in North Yorkshire. Notice when they show the 199 steps going up to St. Mary's Church, at the very top of those steps, in the grass there near the graveyard, is where I want Paul to put my ashes when I am gone, so this will be my final resting place. What a view out over the harbour: ...and another of Whitby: Here's another one I just found of driving through the North York Moors (my favourite spot, high up on the moors with just the road and the land... ...and another one driving through Goathland (were Paul and I stayed in a B&B a few nights one year), which is the home of the fictitious Aidensfield in the British series called "Heartbeat": I am only just now discovering the joys that YouTube has to offer, and these drives through the Land of my Heart have just filled a longing that I never thought would happen again. Enjoy! Cheers, Bex
