A New Cookie and some Kitchen Organization

ORANGE CREAMSICLE COOKIES

Here is the recipe for these delightful cookies.

Just made these for Paul (and me).

I love anything with orange in it. These have white "chocolate" chips (which apparently aren't chocolate at all but really should be called "vanilla chips." But never mind that.) They are good.

I know, I know. They are not on ANYONE's diet or new eating style, but around here, in this house, cookies reign. I am married to a cookie monster who works so incredibly hard at a very physically callenging job (lobstering), he doesn't get fat eating desserts. But he does love desserts and he has some sort of dessert every day.

Now these particular cookies, as you can see, were a bit of a problem in the oven.

The sheets on the two ends, right and left, were on the top rack of the oven (about 3/4ths up the height of the oven), and the cookies on the middle sheet were on the rack immediately below that by one notch only... and they burned on the bottoms. I use SilPat sheets on all cookie sheets, too. I think what's happening is that the bottom rack gets the full force of the heat coming up from the bottom of the oven, and they actually protect the upper rack cookies from getting it, so the upper rack always comes out better. I know, I know. You aren't supposed to use more than one rack when baking cookies. But I always do. I'm just a rebel like that.

You will also see above that I am progressing in my project of organizing things in the kitchen. I got these Oxo storage jars that just came the other day for my often-used ingredients, sugar, brown sugar, flour, whole wheat flour, and oats in this photo. I have some more of these ordered. I really like them. They seal on top with the press of the round top which comes up like a handle/knob when pressed once. They are very well made, so I've ordered 3 more of this size (4 qt) and 3 smaller ones, 2.4 qt. for smaller items. They are not glass but sturdy plastic, but that's fine with me. I have also ordered some round stickers to put on the fronts of them with the names of what's inside (more for Paul than for me). The rest of them will go over on my new shelving unit.

I also just made a 10-grain bread in the machine so that just came out, too. It sure smells good in here.

So, that's what happening here today. Yesterday I made Paul's granola and new cookie biscuits for the dogs which came out fabulous.

The recipe for those treats is here if you have a special dogger who would love a yummy treat, homemade by you!

As Wimbledon tennis is on this and next week, I'm sticking close to the tube, keeping an eye/ear on the happenings over there in merry old England. Boy, would I ever love to see a live Wimbledon match! That's not going to happen, though, so I've got next best thing, time to watch it and a good HD TV.

Better wrap this up before it gets lost in outer space.

Tara friends and cheers,

Bex
