2012-07-25 10:33 AM The fruit, the whole fruit, and nothing BUT the fruit... So, Mom.... what are we going to make this morning? Anything for me? Huh, huh, huh? Well, my darling Kippie, let's see. We are almost out of fruit, and, no, this isn't for you... but will you help me just the same? Okay. If I can have a bite.... You see, my dear, I've only got a little of the fruit mix left, and I plan on having a bowl for breakfast now but wanted to get the new fruit cut up that your "brother" (that's their name for Paul) brought home from the store the other day. Nice new strawberries, blueberries and a pineapple. Yum. Yes, but one little bite? Maybe a strawberry or two? Oh, Okay. One strawberry. But that's it. Okay? Kay. So this is how it goes here. Every time I go into the kitchen, my assistants are there offering to give me a helping paw in any way they can. They are special souls. I like my fruit mixture with some cottage cheese. Paul likes his with either a cookie or sometimes plain and sometimes a little fruity sherbert if we have any in the freezer. When the sherbert ("Rainbow" is the best) melts down into the fruit, oh my, that is so good. But it's breakfast for me and cottage cheese it is. And berries and pineapple. I make up this mixture every week so we have a big container in the fridge at all times. He is really liking this a lot because he used to eat cookies and ice cream every night but now he is preferring the fruit mixture. That done, I turn around and find no dogs...hmmm... where have they gone? Oh... ...here's the boy-dog, not sure where the girl-dog went to. She's avoiding the camera, I think. So that's an average morning in the kitchen. Actually, I intended to do some baking out there this morning. The dogs are almost out of dog biscuits (peanut butter cookies) - they only have maybe 3 or 4 left, so I need to do that today or tomorrow. Think I'll get that dish of fruit and cottage cheese and have breakfast now, though. I know it's kind of late, like almost 11 o'clock, but that's how the mornings go around here, in blissful retirement. Speaking of blissful, our rainwater gutters don't work properly anymore, so we had a gutter man come out yesterday to give us an estimate. We've decided to have new gutters with the Leaf-Relief leaf guard installed and that will set us back, oh, about $3.5 grand not to mention a bit more for unexpected expenses like an electrician to work around the electrical box. It goes out of our pockets a lot faster than it comes in... and a lot of lobsters gave their lives for this gutter system... so I say to all of them, Thank You Very Much Indeed. Cheers, Bex "What we ardently love, we learn to imitate." Read/Post Comments (7) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
