2012-11-30 10:14 AM Last Day of November Meme Another meme, got it from L'Empress' A Place of My Own. So here goes my version. 1.WHAT WAS THE LAST SONG YOU LISTENED TO THAT WASN'T SUNG IN ENGLISH? "Intermezzo" from "Goyescas" by Enrique Granados, solo cello played by the late, great (and I mean GREAT) Jacqueline du Pre, 1962. (No words and that includes English). 2.FIRST ALBUM YOU EVER WENT AND BOUGHT WITH YOUR OWN MONEY? Chad Mitchell Trio, "Mighty Day on Campus". 3.WHEN DID YOU LAST PLAY A GAME? Not an official "game" but the other day when I was listening to Kasey Chambers and Family singing "Banjo," (I Spy with my Little Eye...), my dog Kip came over and wanted to "play" along, so I got up and held his two front paws and we played around the room to the music - you could call it dancing but I think he thought he was playing a game. 4.WHAT WAS THE LAST VIDEO GAME YOU PLAYED? I have never played a video game in my life. 5.HAVE YOU EVER BEEN IN A MUSICAL? Yes. In high school our choir was asked to put on a Sacred Dance show one Easter at church, done to guitars played by fellow students. It was lovely. We wore white sheets with only our underwear on underneath and bare feet. We spent weeks being taught Sacred Dance by the dance teacher and had a fabulous time. The churchgoers seems to really enjoy it. Something totally different. 6.DO YOU FOLLOW YOUR OWN STYLE OR EVERYONE ELSE'S? If other people followed MY style, the Earth would be renamed The Shambles. No, I do NOT follow anyone's style. I wear only what fits me and feels comfy. No more, no less. 7.WHAT'S THE LAST STORE YOU BOUGHT FROM? Personally, Amazon Dot Com. Paul does all our store shopping and I believe the last trip was at Stop & Shop to get some English Muffins that Market Basket didn't have. 8.IN RETROSPECT, HAVE YOU EVER LET A PERSON USE YOU A LOT? Yes. Most of my boyfriends, and first husband. It all stopped when I found and married Paul. He would never even consider "using" me or anyone else. 9. WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING 2 DAYS FROM NOW? Probably exactly what I am doing today. My days do not differ much, just the little chores I choose to accomplish. Today it is making new granola for Paul. Two days from now it will probably be making a new bread for him, as well. Otherwise, very similar to today. Sad, huh? 10. DID YOU EVER BELIEVE THERE WERE MONSTERS IN YOUR CLOSET? No, not in my closet but definitely under my bed. I still do sometimes -- believe there is a monster under my bed. Except he would have to be a very small monsterette because I have so many boxes of things stored under there. 11. WHEN YOU GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL, DID YOU LET RANDOM PEOPLE SIGN YOUR YEARBOOK OR JUST CLOSE FRIENDS? The day we graduated, it was a glorious sunny warm beach day and all we could think about was getting our bodies back out in the sun on the beach to work on our tans (how stupid we were!), so I only stuck around for 5 minutes and only got a couple of friends to sign my yearbook, and then To The Beach where I lived every summer. 12. WOULD YOU CONSIDER ADOPTING A CHILD WHO HAD A MENTAL ILLNESS? I have never even considered having a child so adopting any kind of child certainly would never have been on my menu. I admire people who can and do but I must be missing some essential mothering element in my psyche. 13. DOES THINKING ABOUT DEATH SCARE YOU? No. In fact, some days I wish it would hurry the heck up! 14. WHEN YOU DIE, DO YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU WILL GO TO HEAVEN OR HELL? AND WHERE WOULD YOUR SPIRIT GO? I believe our lives and our deaths are just two planes of our life cycle, going on simultaneously. Dying is just shedding the shell but the "Spirit" which is our essential self, lives always, sometimes in a new "shell" or body, sometimes in other modes. But basically I don't believe we ever really "die" but just change our packaging. 15. WHO DID YOU LAST WRITE A SNAIL-MAIL LETTER TO AND WHY? To my in-laws' bank asking that my husband be put on their accounts as they are very elderly and need help. I used to be a great letter writer before computers and email. 16. DO YOU CARE WHAT PEOPLE SAY OR THINK ABOUT YOU? No. I used to but not any more. 17. HAVE YOU EVER BEEN THREATENED? Yes. When I was young, I did a stupid thing that resulted in me walking the streets of Boston in the wee hours of the morning when a carful of thugs pulled up beside me, opened the car door and said "Get in" - one guy was holding a gun. Just as I was trying to figure how to get out of this one, a cop car drove up and the carful of thugs took off. The cop took me the rest of the way home and lectured me about walking around alone like that. That was too close for comfort. 18. WHICH SIDE OF YOUR FAMILY DO YOU GET MOST OF YOUR QUALITIES FROM? I find myself always taking after my mother whom I never wanted to take after. My Dad was the quiet one in the family and the thinker. I think a lot so maybe that's from him. (I love you and miss you Daddy!) 19. WHAT WAS THE LAST THING WITH ALCOHOL THAT YOU DRANK? I was a self-diagnosed alcoholic and had my last alcoholic drink in 1982 on my birthday. Not a drop since then. Wow, 30 years! 20. NAME SOMEONE WHO MADE YOU LAUGH TODAY. Kip, my collie dog. He always makes me laugh, he's just the cutest living thing! And funny. "Ha!" ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Cheers, Bex
