Shout-Out Sunday No. 11 - Linda, Linda, Linda xxx
The Shout-Out Sunday web site for today, 16 March 2014, is simply a song. A song that I have kept in my top five songs of all time for many, many years now. And it is sung for you here by the Queen of Song, Ms. Linda Ronstadt:
I've loved Linda since I first heard her sing back in the 1970's I think. I bought all her vinyl record albums (which are still stored here in the basement) and then when technology turned to 8-track cassettes, I bought those, and when it turned to smaller cassettes, I went to those, and to CD's, well, I bought many of hers again.. so I've done my part in helping to support Linda's career.
But this song above, "Long Long Time" just does something to me. I think it may be because it reminds me of a certain someone (see pic below) who was very important to me, someone I loved with all my heart and soul at the time this song was popular, but someone who was never to be mine... and has sadly passed away at an all-too-young age.
There are quite a few songs that take me to another dimension like this song does, a place where there was no pain, no worries, just youth doing what youth does, enjoying life as it came along. And some days as I try to make it through each day now, I feel the need to just go back - back to those days of free spirits, yes, free love, and just a spiritual freedom that seems so elusive these days.
Enjoy my offering today. I'm sure all of you know only too well the genius of this wonderful singer as well as I do. I think I need to go hunting thru my CDs now and put on one of her albums... just right for a lazy Sunday morning.
