2014-08-16 12:08 PM Dog Snacks Good afternoon friends.
A short entry about dog snacks -- a recipe for them. I realize I've posted this recipe before, but it was a long while ago now and I have new readers since then, so for the benefit of those newer friends, and my older friends as well, here is a great little recipe for some fabulous dog snacks that my dogs have always loved and craved... in fact I'm getting ready to make a new batch of them this weekend for the little darlins... They are from the book called Dog Bites, Canine Cuisine by Rick & Martha Reynolds. This book was printed in 1992 and I believe it is out of print now but if you click the title, you can find it on amazon for One Penny (+ S&H of course.) Anyway, I'm trying to preserve my copy because it's kind of tattered, from all the times I've used it to make snacks for my collie-lovelies - you know how cookbooks can become victims of the mad-chef-syndrome when ingredients are a-flyin' all around the kitchen, etc. Here's the page: and the full folded out pages: Now, I was thinking that if Flickr ever goes the way of other photo-sharing sites, I might lose these photos, so I am going to type out the recipe below just to have it saved for time immemorial... BEPPO'S TREATS TO GO It's important to let these biscuits sit in the oven after you've turned it off until they have cooled down. This hardens them up very well and they are more of a crunchy snack for your dog than a chewy one. Crunchy is better for the teeth, they say. So there you go. My favorite dog snack recipe. This little book is chock full of other recipes, too, but this is the only one I always use. I always have the ingredients right on hand and it's very quick and easy. Happy Snacking! Late Update: Just found And for Susan, Ruth & Liam who came to dinner the other night, here's a photo of Muffin-the-Glamour Girl on the day she came to live with us: Cheers for all of our four-legged friends, both past and present, Bex & Co. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ 2003 - Present Archives at Diaryland Read/Post Comments (6) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
