You Asked For It...

I think it was Maggie in a recent Comment who asked for a list of the British shows we have enjoyed over the years, and I said that I really should catalog the DVDs we've got here and that it would be a big job.

Well, this list that I've compiled below is garnered from the amazing-amaz0n - from 2008 to the end of 2014 - these are all the shows we've acquired and watched - including TV series, films, travelogues, just really great programming and film-making. You will notice there is very little (if any!) subject matter dealing with royals in here.

If you go to amazon.co.uk and type in any of these titles, you can read more about them, if you are interested.

(Note: You would need a Region 2/PAL or an All-Region DVD player for just about all of these DVDs. We couldn't live without ours, and it plays US DVDs, as well. A good investment for about $75 now on amazon. I think we are on our 3rd one!

This one at amaz0n is very similar to, if not THE SAME, one that we have at the moment, and it's never given us any problems.)

Yes, it is a lot. This is my passion. I try to find the lowest possible price wherever I can. I will even wait a year or more for something to go down in price. Sometimes I will pre-order things and the price will go down by the time they send it out to me, so I get a refund or a reduced price. Amaz0n is very good about that stuff.

It took me a while to copy all this down by hand and then to figure out a way to make a file using my new Browser, Google Chrome. But I found Google Doc and it works great - saves me hundreds for not having to buy Microsoft Office! I am liking this Google Chrome, BTW...

So here are just the DVDs since 2008. They didn't have stuff before that date. I was buying them way before 2008, also, so there are many, many other movies and TV series (all British or European) that I have here, a lot of which are on VHS tapes, that I have not listed here. But I don't feel up to physically standing up and bending over and writing down all those titles, so this was the easiest way for me to give you an idea of the things we've been watching, every night after supper for about 2-3 hours, since 2008.

Some of the series in this list have been quite long, too, like Family at War, When the Boat Comes In, Bergerac, etc. I probably should have put a star next to the really excellent ones, but so many of them are excellent that it would probably be most of them! There really are only a few of these productions that we were disappointed in, not many at all.

So Maggie and anyone else who was interested, there you go. I wish my personal collection was as orderly as this list is! But it isn't. Also, I do not have ALL these shows still here, I have gifted many of them to various special people and, alas, I didn't write down which ones I've given away! So searching for a specific program, at this point, is not something I really would want to begin!

Cheers,

Bex
