Here are a few other goodies from Voltaire: Behind every successful man stands a surprised mother-in-law. An ideal form of government is democracy tempered with assassination. It is dangerous to be right when the government is wrong. (My favorite - might be useful for Iraq) It is not enough to conquer; one must learn to seduce. Anything that is too stupid to be spoken is sung. It is forbidden to kill; therefore all murderers are punished unless they kill in large numbers and to the sound of trumpets.
