2004-11-19 11:59 AM Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! The new Senate minority leader, Democrat Harry Reid of Nevada, is anti-abortion. On NPR today he said that he would not block the appointment of Antonin Scalia as Chief Justice if the President were to nominate him. No filibusters here.
I'm marginally pro-abortion, but I always thought Roe v. Wade was a bad decision. I'm certain my sisters will be happy. Well, it doesn't necessarily mean Roe v. Wade will be overturned. It just means a more conservative court. And even if Roe v. Wade were overturned, it would just mean that legislatures would have to make the call on whether abortion was legal. That works for me. My problem isn't with abortion, it's with a decision that invents a Constitutional right. If people want a Constitutional amendment that says "women shall have the right to an abortion", I don't have a problem with that.
