2005-06-30 7:22 AM Funeral highway The drive into work has become a funeral procession as of late. A couple of weeks ago, they were doing some bridge repair on the highway; a tour bus ignored the cones at the side of the road and killed three construction workers. The construction has restarted now, but there are police officers at either end and a flashing sign telling everyone to slow down to 45. I work in a small urban area, and everyone local has heard about the deaths. Instead of going 45, the traffic slows down to a solemn, stately, single file 30. I can't imagine what it must be like for the guys who are still out there working, knowing what happened to their friends in that same location such a short time ago.
Drive safe over the holiday. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
