Mr. Hendrix- I will do a thorough review of the history on the dog you adopted to see what further actions would be appropriate for any other animals that may have been in contact with him here. I also will discuss you comments and suggestions with our Kennel Supervisor. She is very capable and a former veterinary technician. I would recommend you return the dog to the shelter in order not to incur such expense. There are no programs I know of that would provide you with financial assistance to cover such expenses. That is one reason that we ask the adoption animals be taken within three working days to get a thorough veterinary exam - so that if there is an unknown medical problem or other type of problem that the dog can be returned to the shelter, and the spay/neuter deposit for that adoption can be refunded. If you do not return him to the shelter, the veterinarians know that the spay/neuter deposit time can be extended to whatever time the veterinarian thinks is necessary for medical reasons to delay the spay/neuter. I will ensure that a copy of this message is attached to your adoption contract in case you decide not to return the dog to the shelter and need the extension on the deposit.
