I watched a movie last night, a rental. I usually find something to like in most movies...most of the time. This one was a DOG.
The movie was the Mike Nichols drama, "Closer". It was indescribably bad. I could not find a single sympathetic character. The sex happens off-screen, for the most part, which is fine, except the sex is the whole movie. Which means the whole plot happens off screen. And all we are left with as a viewing audience is people telling each other that they screwed so-and-so. A sample of dialogue at the critica dramatic moment: Clive Owen's character: "Yes I slept with her. She enjoyed it." Jude Law's character: "Thank you very much for your honesty." (Turns and leaves the room.) Please. Who talks like that? Who reacts like that? Insipid. Vapid. Banal. Choose your adjective. What a waste of good bone structure.
