The gospel text this week, for those of us who follow the lectionary, is Matthew 11: 25-30. Immense human tragedy has happened this week in my little corner of the universe. One whole family--wiped out in an instant (father, mother, two pre-teen daughters). One family--facing the death by excruciating inches of a beloved mother and grandmother. One family--facing the serious life-threatening illness of a matriarch. One family--facing the sudden death of a beloved daughter-in-law. One family--facing the iminent death of a father-in-law. That's all in my little 140-ish member congregation, folks! "Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, adn you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." NRSV I got nothin'...
