The Way I Feel...

Saw the typosphere.com link.

One of the dumbest fucking things I think I've ever read. I'm tempted to doubt it's even real, but it's not at all unlikely there are people out there that stupid...

I am reminded of the true tragedy associated with this sort of loss of life; the fact *I* have to endure the fucking aftermath of it all. The television, the radio, my friends; it's fucking inescapable. As much I hate people, it would have been worth all of those bastards not dying so I wouldn't have to deal with all this crap. The convenient patriotism that's about as honest as the jagoffs who only go to church on Christmas & Easter; the signs, the candles, the "day of mourning," Bush's goddamned Vince Lombardi Let's-Win-This-One speech with the obligatory fondling of the firefighter. Blah! Bullshit! It's enough to make me want to fucking puke.

I mean, shit...you'd think nobody ever died before.

You know what the worst thing is? The fact that I'm fucking talking about it myself. I mean, yeah, granted, I'm just bitching, but still...if I really wanted to hammer it down, I should have never mentioned it from the start. Just gone on and written like nothing had happened. Oh well. I guess it's just more important for me to vent about the bullshit surrounding the event than to try and deny it. Never have been one for actually *shaping* reality, just dealing with it in my own fashion...which I suppose is more realistic. Still, it does take a bit of the starch out of my sails, in a way.

Strangely, this reminds me of the "all progress is because of unreasonable men" quote.

Anyway...is there anything else going on? No, not really. I leave for Front Sight (see links) in less than a week to take the defensive handgun course...which a lot of people I've associated with have decried as foolish for one reason or another. Many claim that the cost alone is a rip-off and that one could just as easily get lessons at a gun range for less. For the sake of arguing, I should probably do a little research to test the validity of these statements, but on the other hand, I don't really *care*. For starters, nobody who's made these statements actually owns a real gun. Secondly, they're all more than willing to spend equal amounts of cash on shit that I think is overrated/overpriced/fucking lame or all three. And, shit, if nothing else, I've been to Front Sight before. I like the environment, I like the instructors. The idea that fours days of lessons on how to *properly* use the gun in a legal and effective manner costs about as much as the gun itself (give or take, depening on brand) doesn't seem unreasonable to me. Also, at night, I get to hang out in Vegas having more fun than everyone else will be having. So there. :)

[For the record, I don't mean to be defensive about it, but after the first few 'discussions' on the subject, one can feel a little ganged up on...]

Hopefully, there won't be any bombings anywhere near any airports before I leave. I don't think there will be, but the universe is not above inconveniencing me in elaborate ways, as we learned earlier this week...
