So, yesterday, I helped Jean move into her new place in Manhattan Beach.

I showed up at maybe 9:45ish and everything was well underway. Jay, Hank, Christian (the boyfriend), Eric (the roommate) were already kicking ass and taking names, with Jay as de facto leader of the group. Most of the big shit had been stufed into the U-Haul and Jean informed me that the project had begun at six. I looked at her like she was crazy.

Anyway, I got to it. There was only so much for me to do, but I managed to lift a few heavy things and maneuver an item or two into the U-Haul. Additionally, Hank and I stuffed Jean's big-ass TV into the front seat of her car.

A quick run to 7-11 was made for refreshments and on the return, we discussed where the hell we were going. Hank informed us he had to go home and sleep, so we were left with four cars full of stuff, plus a U-Haul, and five people. I was elected to drive the U-Haul, which I was cool with, 'cause I'd done it before, but later I regretted it. The U-Haul was older than the last one I'd driven; the steering wheel was skinny and it constantly veered to one direction or the other, so I was continually fucking with the wheel to keep from completely drifting into other people's lanes. Fortunately, I avoided killing anyone and made it to Manhattan Beach in one piece.

We unloaded.

It took...well, I don't know how long it took, but it seemed like forever. Jean has a lot of shit. Her roommate has just as much, if not more. I couldn't believe it when I actually saw the back wall of the U-Haul. After that, it was more boxes from her boyrfriend's truck and the TV, which I moved with our new arrival, Henry (yeah, I thought it was odd, too...).

The new place is nice. It doesn't have a patio, unfortunately (I like patios and both Jean and her roommate smoke), but the main room area feels more spacious than her last few places and you can get to the bathrooms, bedrooms, and kitchen without crossing in front of the couch & TV (which aren't set up yet, but it's obvious where they'll go). I don't recall what her rent is, but she said it's cheaper than the Silverlake place and it's relatively close to the beach (I could almost smell it).

Afterwards, we agreed to meet later for dinner and Jay and I took off to go sleep. However, as I didn't get any sleep the night before and the rest of the crew had started at six, I'm unsurprised this plan didn't happen. I showered and then slept from 1500 to 2000 and then again from 2200 to 0400. I'll call her later today and see what's up, though.

This is the fifth time Jean has moved since we started hanging out again. In a year.

We've informed her that she's not allowed to abandon this apartment. Ever. For any reason.
