He could, in theory, die any day now. Apparently, there's no word on whether or not Kody is in the Gulf or back on the Pacific. If he's in or around Iraq, he could, in theory, die any day now. This bothers me. One the one hand, they joined up; they deserve whatever happens to them, like everyone else. However, I'd prefer they were at home, alive and whole. They're decent people and I'm somewhat fond of them. I've begun to think a bit about this. The natural, inevitable result of war is that people on both sides die. It's an inescapable truth. So, then, if you are for a war, are you not, in some way, promoting the death of our troops? Are you not saying, "I want to sacrifice some of our soliders to kill some of theirs"? When Todd lived here, I considered him a friend. That hasn't really changed in my mind even though he went back to AK and we almost never speak because I'm generally horrible at correspondance. I consider Kody a friend, even though lives way down at Pendleton. We just saw him a few months ago. So, I'm wondering...if you're for the war, are you telling me you think whatever this war is about is worth risking my friends' lives? That you think it's worth their dying over? Because that feels really close to, "It's okay if they die." I'm really not ok with that. In fact, it kind of pisses me off. I understand that the ideal is that, when you sign up for military service, you are defending your country. I also understand that the truth is that your life is now at the whim of whatever ignorant motherfucker gets elected. This "cause" isn't good enough for me. It's not worthy. It's posturing. I don't care about the Iraqi people. I don't care about "weapons of mass distruction". I don't care how big of a motherfucker Saddam is; he's one out of many. I don't care whether or not we, or any other country, is 'out for the oil'. All I see is some fucking redneck who's wasting 70 billion dollars and possibly getting my friends killed in the process. President Bush, I hope you get anally raped by one of your relatives and die from the bleeding, you motherfucker. Anyway, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.
