So, back again at Miss Kitty's this evening, this time with Thea in tow. It was also my first trip out in my new (used) car, a white, 1997 Geo Prizm (GM's Toyota Corolla clone), w/power nothing! :) Finally, a vehicle of my very own that I am now required to get up off my ass and get a job so I can pay insurance on it, keep gas in it, and eventually replace the goddamned tape deck with a CD player (preferably one that also plays mp3's...). Anyway, it runs great and I totally dig it. In some ways, it handles better than the Altima, probably 'cause it's smaller. ANYWAY, back to Miss Kitty's... So we hit the door before ten, as I like to do, so as not to waste money on a cover. We walk around, doin' a brief bit of tour-guide before we grab a couple drinks and chat. It probably isn't until after our next pair of drinks that the music kicks in, though, and actually gets decent. Finally, the go-go dancers are on their boxes, there's actual people in the place (not just us drunks), some drag queens, and there's some dude wearing a torn fishnet-stocking suit with a glowing Batman logo on it. I'm pretty sure I remember this dude wearing something else that was electrically illuminated the last time I was here. Regardless, you know it's on at Miss Kitty's when the drag queens show up. A quick word about the drinks. While these are, more or less, your standard bar drinks in that they are fairly small, fairly strong, and loaded with ice, the drink specials were tasty like a motherfucker. Their versions of a Fuzzy Navel and a Kamikaze were damn good, as is their "Cherry Popper" (which I sampled last time). The best by far, however, may be the Pink Pussy. All are $3 before 11pm and goddamned are they good. If only I was getting compensated for this advertising, lemme tell ya... So unlike my last trip out to the Dragonfly, the music was a lot better. There were a few favorites from the clubs (So Alive by Love & Rockets, Israel by Siouxsie) as well as decent stuff I'd never heard before or things I didn't expect (like Fischerspooner's Emerge). Add to this a fun dance partner (who later went rogue while I was stuffing dollars into the waistband of a go-go dancer) and I had myself a decent time. So I'll be going back. Maybe next week, even. Don't worry, I'll put out another reminder... Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
