2003-11-30 11:24 PM Thanksgiving, Timeline, and whatever the hell else I did with myself... Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Contemplative Read/Post Comments (0) So, Thanksgiving was Thanksgiving. We did it early, this year--5pm. This left me with a rediculous amount of time to do absolutely nothing, so...I think I ended up chillin' with the crew and seeing Timeline.
As far as Thanksgiving goes, I think I'm over it. Turkey is boring and doesn't taste very good. Stuffing is dull. The marshmallow-covered yams, which I like, don't really do it for me the way they used to. Rolls (crescent or otherwise) are nice, but I can have those whenever I want, really. Everything else (the weird spinache thing, the mandarin oranges & marshmallows thing called "ambrosia", cranberry sauces, etc) I don't even like. Really, it was all about the pumpkin pie, which I need to just get off my ass and learn to make myself. Next year, I'm bailing on Thanksgiving and I'm gonna gather people and we're gonna make our own fucking pizzas or something. Who's with me? As far as Timeline goes, I liked it. As a matter of fact, I enjoyed it thoroughly. Yes, it was a product of Script Writing 101 with absolutely zero deviations and no surprises, but I was totally entertained from beginning to end. Now, if I can say that while paying full price, I can promise you that it's definitely worth your matinee dollar. I mean, shit, it's got Billy fucking Connolly in it! That guarantees you a decent film almost every time. Friday night was, as far as I know, the first meeting of the West Side Irregulars. Diplomacy ensued. Austra-Hungary was the first to be destroyed. Then, Germany was betrayed by Russia, then France, and utterly anihilated. All before 1904. Italy was next, a few years later and shortly after that it was too late to continue. All agreed, however, that Turkey fucking dominated by sitting in the corner, not threatening anyone, and having tea with Russia for the entire game. Much fun all around. Saturday, it was Bruce Almighty and the quest for pumpkin pie. The former was slightly better than expected, but still not as good as the latter. Pumkin pie trumps all. Sunday, I've done nothing with. I was up late to listen to The Jesus Christ Show and woke up in the dark and to discover that Johnny Wendel (the only liberal talk radio personality on KFI and possibly Los Angeles) at least sometimes still gets to air on KFI (around 5pm this Sunday afternoon). I considered Velvet, but my last few outings haven't been all that entertaining. I considered hitting BBG, but I wasn't really in the mood to get my song on. Besides, I've had some e-mails to catch up with... Tommorrow, it's either the good ol' Liquid Kitty or Wumpskate. Decisions, decisions...
