what I got done today

pull the hats from David's drawer, try each one on his head—the strawberry, the puppy dog ears—put the rejects in a plastic bag

take the bag from my closet and put it in John's

walk through rain showers to the neighborhood association building, pick up posters for the winter festival, poster half the street

lie down while David napped in between answering the phone calls from the police chief and Bill Clinton

what I didn't get done

move the small clothes to the basement and bring the right size up

find the rain poncho for the stroller

sleep more than ten minutes

and the other fifty things on my to-do list
