They are an immensely popular children's music group from Australia. Rose has checked out their cd's from the library and forbidden me and John to talk as she played them. She likes them. I don't get it. I find their voices so falsely cheerful and condescending that I want to scream. They can take lifetime favorites like "she'll be coming around the mountain" and turn them into glop. And then someone gave me free tickets to one of their concerts, and I went.
Add to simplistic and saccharine music a delivery with plastered on grins and manipulative calls for applause. And to watch it lip synched to bad dance moves is excruciatingly boring. Might I suggest Taj Mahal, Pete Seeger, Peter, Paul, and Mary, and Susan Reed for some fabulous children's music? And what would you recommend?
